95 s10 blazer 4wd problem
Hi,
I have a 95 blazer 4wd. It has the push button 4wd. It has been doing some weird things that I can't figure out. I was driving down the highway the other day and the 4hi light came on by itself. I pulled over to check it out and the 4wd was not engaged but the light was on. When I pushed the 2wd button it would not light back up. I can get it into 4lo and back out easily. Sometimes when I hit the 4hi button the 4lo and hi lights both come on at once. I eventually got the 2hi light to come back on and just pulled the fuse so I didnt have any problems. 4lo seems to work fine and 4hi is not working no matter what the lights indicate. How to I fix this problem. It sounds like it is in the switch to me. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks for any suggestions TOM |

That's a tough one to diagnose without a scanner. Could be the encoder motor or the Transmission Shift Control Module.

RE: 95 s10 blazer 4wd problem
Sounds like the problem I had with my 95 Blazer. When I put it 4 wheel low,I couldn't get it out without turning off the power. Sometimes driving, even as fast as 60mph it would go into 4 wheel low by itself. It turned out to be the encoder motor. I replaced it a year ago and everything is fine.

RE: 95 s10 blazer 4wd problem
How much is the encoder motor and can I test it. Where is it located on the truck and what does it look like.
Thanks again, TOM |

After research I think it is the transfer case motor. What year blazers are interchangeable with my transfer case motor. Mine is a 95

RE: 95 s10 blazer 4wd problem
Do I need a blazer with a push botton 4wd for this part or will one with the floor mounted handle to operate 4wd work just the same. Thanks in advance for any timely help. I want to find one in a junk yard this weekend.
