Default 97 Blazer Head Light issue

I have a 97 Blazer LS 4dr 4wd and my head lights do not work. I have checked all fuses and everything is ok. When i turned the switch for the lights on nothing happens, i can switch between bright and dim and nothing works. However when i release the parking break my day time running lights come on and thats all that will work even if i have the head light switch turned on. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

sounds like a bad on/off switch in the dash.

Ok thanks, do you know if they're expensive or hard to put in?

the switch on the dash is a module that is very easy to replace, just grab one from the junkyard. all you need to do is pop off the dash bezel, the switch will come off with it. then just disconnect the wiring harness and replace the switch.
