Hard Start
While this may be a simple problem to fix I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy. I drive a 95 Jimmy s-15, w/ the 4.3l. vortec, 4wd, and automatic transmission, and as the tepurature drops I have been experiencing problems with starting. It could simply be an issue with the distributor, but I do know the battery is only three months old. What basically occurrs is when I turn the key I either get no response or a very dying, crank until the fuel gets a good spark. As soon as it starts I have no problems, acceleration is good, and idle is smooth. Thanks for your time and sorry for making you read my novel.

RE: Hard Start
Welcome to the forum.
If your battery is good and the Starter is cranking slow, you should check for starter draw. It could be a worn starter drawing too much power.Hook up a volt meter to your battery and see what the voltage drops to when you crank it over. The battery shouldn't drop below 9.6 volts. |
RE: Hard Start
Thanks Chevy Lover, I'll give that a try, if I can get my hands on a volt meter.
