with K&N filter cleaner. It has instructions on the side.
Let it dry, then oil it.

ahh. ok. Didn't know your experience w/ them.
real simple. spray the dirty side w/ the cleaner. then let it sit as directed. (filter removed.)
then rinse it dirty side down w/ tap water, or perrirer, for you fancy types.
Let it air dry. Probably overnight.
Spray K&N filter oil until its nice N red.

I think thats what I did last January.

Good luck!

Get a K&N Filter recharge kit and follow the instructions on the box. But make sure not to over oil the filter. Because of the filter being close to the MAF sensor any excess oil will have an effect on the way the sensor works. There is a service bulletin at GM Dealers about this style of filters and rough idling.

The oil build up will collect dirt on the MAF sensor and make it less capable of correctly telling the computer how much air is going into the TB which may cause a rough idle.

Yeah I over oiled my cone filter. It threw a MAF code. I had to clean the MAF sensor 3 times w/ electrical parts cleaner within 65 miles of cleaning/oiling it.

He won't have to worry about that with the 2.8L. On the newer vehicles with MAF sensors, I always take and use my shop vac to remove the excess oil from the filter before putting it back in the vehicle. Here's a tip, do NOT use your wife's vacuum cleaner!!! LMAO.
