Default lacking Power

Any one have the problem of your vehicle feeling like it don't want to go up hill unless you put the pedal to the floor? Or have it feel really sluggish? Put new plugs and wires on it last spring or fall. Don't remember which yet. I'm thinking it is time to have the o2's changed. because they are original I believe.

Whats the air filter look like, ever been changed?

What grade gas you running. Min likes 89 octane the best. Especially with 10% ethanol in it.

Usually I run 87. I notice I have better luck with 89. Just gotta have funds for the 89. I installed a cone filter system. When I have the spare cash I intend on picking up a K&N filter and a recharge kit. Even when I run the 89 the vehicle seems to drag going up hills. it don't cruise up them like other vehicles do. Usually ahve to get on the gas. it has 121K on it.I'm gonna be doing a transmission filter change and new fluids once the weather gets better.

try some fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank... or even some sea foam.

the o2's probably dont have anything to do with your problem unless you are getting an SES light.

Not necessarily true. O2s can start affecting mileage and power before they trigger an SES light. But the only true way to diagnose a lazy or failing O2 sensor is with a scan tool watching the sensor trace. If you have a high enough refresh rate multimeter, you could try to back probe the wires, but it is so much easier to watch the response from the sensors graphed on a scan tool!

I agree that some FI cleaner, a MAF cleaning, and possibly a Seafoam treatment down the intake and see how it goes from there.

I agree with cleaning the MAF but don't use carb cleaner it will make things worse because it leaves an unseen residue, better to use an Electronic Parts cleaner, I use CRC QD Electronic parts cleaner but any product similar will work to. You should be able to get it at your local parts store, if not then Radio Shack should have a spray cleaner that should work.

Also where is the air cleaner located at, if it is not shielded from the warm air from radiator/engine then it will draw in the warmer air making the truck less responsive than if you had the regular airbox. And make sure that when you do get an oiled cone filter that you "DO NOT" over oil the filter, the MAF sensor is sensitive to excess oil coming off the filter and can cause a lot of rough idle issues, and what would appear to be tranny issues. All you have to do is read the forum for that.

Depending on how new the can of cleaner is it should only take as long as it takes to get the high pressure part of the spray to clean wires. But you must remove the MAF and dissasemble so that all you have in your hand is the plastic center with the electronic wires. Once you get to that point spray the wires with the Electronic Parts Cleaner, by the time it takes you to set it down it should have evaporated. Also you should spray down the front metal half with the "honeycomb" in it to make sure there is no dirt hanging there that maybe causing trouble. Then re-assemble and re-install the cleaned part.
