Default power steering or not

when i first learnt to drive it was with a 61 rambler american withoout power steering. i have always remembered that the steering took two hands to turn the corner. it's a feel in the steering wheel that i'll never forget......my 1996 blazer lt 4x4x4 has a feel very simular to that 61 rambler. i have driven large chevy pickups for many years now and with the power steering it's a one hander. What i'd like to know is this much harder feel in the steering common to a 96 blazer because of the shorter wheel base possibly?

as for the power steering fluid it's level is okay.

I can turn the wheel with one finger on my 95. sounds like you might have a bad power steering pump...

hmm i don t know...i think that my blazer has some pretty easy steering to be honest......it might be that im just used to it but i palm my steering wheel for every kind of turn with almost no effort at all.

hi, thanks for your input...is there away to diagnose or a check to verify that the steering pump is faulty?

only way I'd know to do it is to maybe take it in and have it done or you can get some sort of guage and do a real-time pressure test....

yea but an easier way is to find a dealer and test drive another 96 blazer like your own....see if it handles differently
