Default Slight Hic-up in Idle

I've got another question with regard to my 1997 Bravada (94,000 miles). When it's in park with the air conditioner on I hold the RPM's at around 1700 and every 6-8 seconds there is a slight decrease in RPM's. By slight I mean around 400. Now, I can feel it when I set the cruise at 60mph, but there's just a slight hitch, not a 400 rpm decrease. With the A/C off, it's just fine. Any ideas?

The only Benado that doesn't want his A/C to die.

Default RE: Slight Hic-up in Idle

The A/C compressor is not running at all times. The decrease in RPM is due to the added load from the compressor when the compressor clutch locks up. I too notice whenever my compressor kicks on in my '00 Bravada and have felt it in the Blazer's that some of my family members own. I would assume that it is just normal.

Is there anyway to smooth that out? It doesn't bother me when idling, but it's pretty annoying while driving on the highway.

The only Benado that doesn't want to feel the little bump in power every 8 seconds.
