Default tranny code

ok nice folks here, question....i have a brand new engine and a brand new tranny.....only got bout 1000 miles on both....all of a sudden it has a p1870...tranny code...from my research it seems to do with the tcc...or lock up solenoid....now its not worth the money to remove it and ship it back to where i bought it... http://www.transmissioncenter.net/highperf700r4.htm raptor junior any way..the warranty they give....6 months...pretty much means nothing because every thing they exclude is everything to do with the tranny plus they make u pay for everything possible to have it shipped there and back and restocked ect.....anyway...back to the question....i know that on most vehicles the engie has to reach temp before the converter locks up....it was going fine untill today...now it doesnt seem to be locking up...now i cant beleive that a brand new tranny would be acting up but...could it be that the 160 degree stat is the most common problem in my situation...i have read that even battery voltage, alternator and what ever to do with the electrical can cause this code....i have not had any problems in any gear just seems to not lock up....it even has a brand new torque converter.....i was thinking of putting some tranny cleaner in it to help just incase something is dirty...or even chenging the fluid....of course one thing that voids the warranty is if i remove the pan...how stupid.....i do have another completely rebuilt valve body i could put in it...but dont wanna if it just may be dirty from break in...fluid is not burned or discolored in any way...smells normal....and i do have a huge tranny cooler on it...

my options....tranny cleaner additive.......fluid flush.....new valve body....

what do you think....

I don't think a tranny additive will do anything. Is the torque converter th one you wanted? Is it the right stall speed for the engine? MAybe the PCM needs to be flashed for the tranny setup.

Perhaps something wasn't built right. I dunno.

Ask the company you purchased the tranny from if they modded the valvebody by inluding a .490 or .500 boost valve. There are companys out there that sell a boost valve kit but it's usually not needed until something is worn. Or if you want to increase line pressure for any horse power added to the motor.

the torque converter is for my blazer its a b29 witch is the exact one they come with....2000 rpm stall...the transmission is also for the blazer it does have all the updates to it...im thinking it just may be a bad solenoid they do go bad...even new ones..i do have another here that i know is good that i may try....eventually......im pretty sure a bad solenoid wont hurt anythign for awhile as it dont cause the light to come on....just happen to find it when i was scanning the usuall 02 sensor codes.....it will just creat a little heat...wich i dont think ill have a problem with due to the huge cooler....i mean huge...bout half the size of the radiator....anyway....anymore ideas out there

If you have a 160* stat with out a reprogram of the pcm then you will have problems. The factory program requires approx 170*+ to work properly and unless you reprogram the pcm may not let the tcc work like it is designed....

For 4L60E transmissions with Code 1870. This kit corrects wear in the valve body that causes code 1870. The reamer is specially designed for use with our TCC regulator valve kits 77754-03K and 77754-04K. This reamer allows the installation of our re-designed TCC regulator sleeve and valve and requires only cutting oil and a speed handle. The reamer also features a depth stop to prevent over boring. This fix will not work on GM remanufactured transmissions. The transmission doesn't need to be removed to install this part.

#77754-R2, Reamer. Cost $125.00
Qty 12345

#77754-03K, valve for 1993-1997 all except EC3. Cost $46.00
Qty 12345

#77754-04K, valve for 1998 up EC3 units. Cost $46.00
Qty 12345
