Default transmission help please!!!!!!!!!

hey i just purchased a 1984 gmc jimmy 350 4x4, i need a new transmission, will a turbo 350 short tail trans work?

I dont see why not, itll bolt right in, and I think the th350 short tails were for 4x4 applications. I might be wrong

that is what i thought, but someone told me it may need to be a long shaft, i have a turbo 350 short shaft i can go buy for a good price i just need to know 4 sure if it will work, thanks for your help

the shafts can be bought seperatly, if you got a good deal on it go for it. My RWD had a longshaft as did about 8 others, my 4x4 is a shortshaft. My new output shaft and tailhousing for a th400 was only 150 out the door, can prolly be found cheaper but I had a stronger shaft due to the HP and TQ output of the motor. Didnt need it but better safe then sorry when the tranny is spinning that fast right next to me.

Maybe if you checked with a local transmission rebuilder in your area, they would be the ones to have that information in some form.
