Wipers
I just got a 97 Blazer 4door 4x4 last week and have already had a few problems. But now because of all the rain im coming up with more prob. my driver side door has begun to leak on top, as well as my wipers just stopped working tonight as I was driving home, they stopped in the up positions so I pushed them down but when I did only driver side went down so now the dont move at the same time, I bought ext warr. with the vehicle, but I was told not to make claims within first 90 days because they would suppect pre-ext. problem anyone have any ideas of what I should do, or are the wipers screwed now that they dont move together. HELP.... Thanks for reading and please any suggestions would be very appreciated
your wiper issue is actually normal for blazers!!!! The wiper modular is bad. When you open the hood look at the firewall directly under the driver side wipper youll see a box mounted on the firewall only one screw is holding the top on. The part cost me $180 from the dealer. Very very simple to replace. Good luck I know theres a post up with a picture of it if i find the post I will post the link.
The wiper can be adjusted back to being in time by loosening the nut that holds the arm on and aligning it.
As far as the motor goes, one of the most common problems is cold solders on the wiper circuit board. You could replace it with a new one and have the same problem in a year or two. Or you could fix it yourself for little to nothing. Have a read through here:

No the dealer didnt tell me not to make a claim, I read that making a claim within the first 90 days usualy means the problem was there when you bought it and they won't cover pre-existing problems!!!! I read it on here http://www.carbuyingtips.com/warranty.htm as well as heard it from a few people...
article:
Don't buy an auto warranty to cover pre existing failures. Don't file a claim within the first 60 days!
When you by a used car with no pre existing conditions, the car runs fine with no issues for several months. These are accepted odds by warranty company actuaries. When abnormal things occur, red flags go up. When a sell your used Ford, you don't have 4 parts break in the first 30 days. If this happens, industry standard red flags go up. Contracts have verbiage that even if your car was an inspected prior to selling you a warranty, it can still be shown to have a pre-existing condition. Don't buy a problematic used car expecting the auto warranty to cover repairs. They are a lot smarter than you. I tell people don't file a claim within 60 days to stay off the radar map and avoid triggering red flags. Warranty companies know that 90% of the claims filed in the first 30 days are fraudulent claims on pre-existing failures, that can often be proven by independent inspectors. Don't do it.
But what gets me is how do you know 4 parts won't break in first 30 days.... is there a chart they have on as to when everthing must break in order to cover under warranty?

Well looks like my warranty company is going to cover the $400 repair for the wipers so there is no need for me to mess around with it, as for the leaking driver door I was told there were caused by loose hinge pins, Is this true?
Good luck with the new wiper motor. We had problems with 2 new units only months after having them installed under warranty in my father's '94 GMC K2500. Finally got sick of it and repaired it ourselves. No more issues. Hopefully the newer new ones are of a better quality than back in '97.
On the door, yes, very likely. You can take a look at the hinges and there should be bushings on the hinge pins. If there aren't or if the center sections of the door brackets are laying flat against the bottom with a gap on top, you need to replace the pins and bushings. Hopefully it isn't so bad that you have to drill to open up the hinges for enlarged bushings. If the hinges are worn, then it is very possible for a gap to be opened up on the top of the door frame.
Don't know about your warranty claim thing as described above. In NY we have the lemon law warranty that covers any defect in the vehicle for atleast 30 days after purchase for vehicles under 100,000 miles (longer if lower mileage). These defects are repaired by the dealership at no cost to the owner, pre-existing or not.

I don't know about the lemon law because I purchased the vehicle from a dealer AS-IS, I bought an extended warranty through a seperate company but I was told that they wouldn't cover pre-ex. failures on the vehicle which doesn't make much sense to me. If you paid for the warranty they should cover everything on the list regardless of the time of failure!
