Default "SUV Sport" Cold Air Intake

eBay Link

What do you think. I am mainly looking to pick up some mpg from it. Do I need to worry about reliability of the motorwhen I add an intake? Thanks.

looks like a decent intake and no it won't take away from any reliability

^^ Agreed ^^ Could use a bigger heatsheild, atleast based on that picture. The intake itself looks okay. Personally I would just spend the money on a K&N or AEM intake kit.

Another eBay CAI

How about this one then. The heat shield looks much better don't you think?

Heat shield looks a lot better. The first one you posted looked like it only wrapped around the filter. You have to remember also that what they have pictured may not be what you're getting. They even include this "Sample air intake picture. The air intake you receive is pictured above." above the picture showing how a heat shield deflects hot air. The mounting points seem like they would match up where they should (radiator support and air box mount). If I were to buy that kit, the first thing I would do is ditch the filter and buy a nice dryflow that will fit in the same space.

Thank you. I think I will go with that one and throw on the filter you suggested or a K&N.

I would use the "Ask the Seller a Question" feature on eBay to ask about what size pipe it is, and what size the filter is. That way you'll know what you'll be looking for as far as a replacement. Here are some AEM dryflows on eBay as well. My guess would be 2-3" diameter by 5" long. Just make sure you get the pipe size from the seller so know what inlet size to get in the filter. I know Euro had a 9" filter on his setup at one time and with the addition of a heat shield he said the 9" was too big. Not sure if that was diameter or length though.
