Default Best sounding exhaust?

I was just wondering what is the recommended exhaust system for a 03 blazer?

Will i have good sound by just changing my stock muffler out with a flow master? Or should i do different size pipe and better converter too? Can i get good sound without going dual or is that a waste of time?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

That all depends on who you ask, some like it quiet while others like loud and agressive. Personally I like a low rumble that's not loud but loud enough to hear. I'd say leave it all stock, just have the muffler cut out leaving as much of the stock piping as possible and go from there. I'd start with a cheapo glasspack, find out if it's too loud then step down to a Thrush Welded, same as a Flowmaster 40 but half the price.

best sounding exhaust depends on your opinion of what exhaust should sound like.
jump on youtube and look up magnaflows, Flowmasters, Glasspacks, Straights, Duals, and so on and let your ear narrow it down.
the biggest change comes form you muffler...
then it changes based on other mods you may do (cat back, true dual, straights, dumped, cai, cat delete, larger dia tubing, and many other things)

here are some sound options on 2 gen Blazers

From what I have heard(literally) the Edelbrock SDT sounds the best to me.
However, I don't like how the 4.3 sounds, so I'm running a GM muffler. Those sound pretty good.

the flowmaster 40 series is a popular muffler for the 4.3, that's what I have on my truck and I like the sound of it

People forget about Dynomax's system? It's got a medium idle, nothing as loud as the 40 series by far. For basic driving it's a nice sound, i enjoy having it but as well it's pretty cheap for a catback

Thanks for the advice... think im going to go with the flowmaster 40 series.

The place i called said he can do a single in single out for $165 or a single in double out plus the extra pipe for $240

Good deal? or Bad deal?

Well i ended up finding a better deal. Found a flow master 40 series at auto value for 79 out the door. Had the recommended muffler guy here in town do it, and he charged 40. So 119 total.

So i guess i answered my own question...165 was a bad deal!!!

Or go to Summit or a local auto parts store and get yourself a Thrush Welded, same as a Flow 40 but costs $40.
