IMO you shouldnt go with glassy's on a newer v8--not my kind of sound. I think you should look at the dynomax mufflers (the high flow ones of course) nice high flow cats and some nice big piping--make sure you dont go too big--you'll lose some power--i think 2.5' should be plenty for each pipe.....and I would also probably do and H or X pipe. what do you guys think about magnaflow or flowmaster? those two are the front runners right now i think. it would be the whole package anybody have exp. with either of them? either have better performance gains or sound differences

personally i like magnaflow better--IMO they sound a little nicer and im pretty sure they flow better too (generally--certain models might not)
BTW---thanks for the ROTM vote kyle!

duals with glasspacks. They sound mean on a 5.3 Leave the cat, don't waste money on a highflow cat unless you need a new one. You don't reall gain anything from it.

so if i do go with magnaflow are duals alot better sounding because they only have the sound clip for the single pipe stock exit spot and it didnt have much of a cackle. also how much work would it be to do it myself or would i be better off paying a muffler shop

A lot will depend on your personal tastes. But "true" duals will be almost twice the cost of the single exhaust system on your truck now. Need to check your local emissions laws. You may have to install a second cat with sensors and then have the computer checked to see if it will accept the new post cat sensor setup, that is if your local laws permit.
My personal view is just upgrade the stock setup and increase the flow through the muffler and out the tailpipe. Unless you upgrade the airflow in any increase in pipe size may not be necessary. Check out the Dynomax catologue pages 6-7 for a table of pipe sizes vs cu in/hp so that you don't lose lowend torque...

well with mine, i went with a magnaflow muffler when i got my exhaust done, and it sounds awsome even on my v6. The exhaust shop i got it done at also removed my cat (no emmission tests done where i live) and i noticed a fairly big boost in hp. I would totally recommend a performance magnaflow muffler since mine was perfect!
totally up to u tho!
good luck!

Leave the stock y-pipe and converter, have a muffler shop install a Flowmaster 40-series muffler with dual outlets going to dual tailpipes (all 2.5 inch pipe). I've heard (and driven) several of these...they are awesome with this setup! The muffler shop that I deal with quoted me $250.00 installed with 3" stainless tailpipes!
