Default Flowmasters on 4.3?

I have a 01 GMC jimmy 4door 4X4 and was thinking of getting a flowmaster muffler. I've heard the super 44 has a nice V8 like sound at low rpms. At past 3000rpm they sound like rice burners but I rarely get above 2500rpm. Has anyone had experience with the super 44 on a 4.3Vortec? How will it sound if I put the flowmaster on with the factory tail pipe? Instillation time?

I'm running the 50 series - I tote a two-year old around in the morning. I had a 40 series on it before but the interier resonance was a bit too much for my liking. 50 series sounds deep and even through-out the RPM range, that I really like.

Keep in mind, exhaust sounds different under load that at idle and reving with no load on the engine.

Here is what the 50 series sounds like - hallow deep rumble at idle, bold and throaty the rest of the time!

@ Bigringtravis: What exactly is your exhaust setup? That sounds great!

In my opinion all the flowmasters sound like crap once they clear the 3000 rpm mark, they sound like a stupid 4 banger honda or something. I personally love the way my 36" cherry bomb sounds at every rpm. It rumbles at low rpms but when you punch it it just gets louder, it doesnt get that rice burner effect going on.

i love my flowmaster on my 4.3 i believe 2 1/4 in nd out but it sounds great but i also had my cat cut out so that may be the reason it sounds better when i first got it put on with the cat still on i barely heard any difference... but for dimone i have the same suspension lift as u the 5 inch trailmaster nd an extra add a leaf in the back nd am thinking about doing the 1.5 t-bar lift but was curious how it rides and if anything is wearing funny like ball joints or tie rods or cv joints any input?

Yeah I'd like to know BigRingTravis's setup too best I've heard on a 4.3

I had a super 44 with a hiflow cat and 2.5 all the way back on my old 91 s10 4.3 and it sounded like sex. I got asked so many times if I had a 305 it wasn't funny. It never had a rice effect at any rpm, and in my opinion sounded better then a brand new Challenger R/T that revved at me a few times. Super 44 is going to give you some cabin noise that'll compete with a sub in SPL but if you love the sound of muscle I highly recommend it. I plan on doing a dual setup the exact same on my Jimmy once I remove the gas tank for a fuel cell.
