I wonder how hard it would be to just hollow out a stock catalytic converter??

Hollowing out the stock converter will decrease exhaust flow due to the rapid expansion of the exhaust gasses, slowing them down, and adding restriction.
If a high flow cat triggers a CEL, you can have the PCM tuned to improve performance as well as remove the DTCs associated with the rear O2 sensor.

where can I find out what type of plug is on my O2 sensor... apparently there are like 8 types of 4 wire GM O2 sensors?

Under your truck...

sweet... ill look on monday..lol i might just cut my cat off and clamp on a straight pipe and consider ordering a high flow cat if I dont like the result...
what size pipe will I need in order to just slip it over the existing pipe ends (after I cut the cat off) so I can clamp it on?? or I could always get two exhaust flanges and a piece of pipe and weld it the same length as the stock catalytic converter so I would be able to bolt my stock cat back on if I ever needed to?? just need to find out what the length on the stock cat is from flange to flange....
BLAZINLOUD, think you could make a video of the sound of your setup from the inside of the truck.. seems like it would create a lot of interior resonance...

So does anyone have a video of actual Flow 40 with high flow cat? I'm looking to put a high flow cat on in hopes that it makes the exhaust sound louder. I just don't wanna spend money on a cat + installation then realize that the cat is actually lower than my stock cat. Right now the cat doesn't sound like it's restricting much sound at all. The truck's always had a deep crackling kinda sound to it, especially after running hot for a while. Sometimes it sounds like a 305 or something, with that deep roar to it. When I run the truck hard for quite some time it sounds different. I was in the driveway with my brother and I kept tapping the gas so it just gave off these really low growls and he laughed and said it sounded like a monster truck.
And a_tack, my friend is running straight pipes on his K5, but he cut a reguler piece if piping the length of the cat and just clamped it directly onto the pipe in replace of the cat, which is a good idea incase for you reason you really need to put the cat back on.
I have a flange mid cat and muffler.

Nice! Thanks alot man! For some reason I figured with the awesomely loud outside sound that the interior resonance might be somewhat unbearable, but it isnt bad at all, especially with the window up..lol Definitely think i'm gonna do this mod in the near future, thanks again for your help!
