muffler question

hey guys i have a 1997 blazer and have been wanting to cut the muffler off for some time now...i am just wondering if it has any effects on gas mileage and does it add perfprmance?

i ran mine without the muffler for a bit, never really noticed anything gaswise or performance wise. only thing I noticed was it was load as flux, so i threw a dual chamber resonator on to quite it up a bit.

when i was putting on my glasspack i started it up and it was LOUD! But the cool thing is that when i put on the glasspack i got a couple extra horses and better throttle response.
