Default New to forum. Plus question

Hey guys I'm new to this but I have a 2000 Blazer LS. Already have a 2.5 in suspension lift and am looking to get a small body lift here soon. This is not my daily driver and have been using just for some fun recently I have come across the issue of high waters. Already once took water in through the intake and had a fun time getting it running again while in the trails. I saw on here recently about a homemade snorkel kit that some one made out of ABS pipe. I am thinking about making the same type of thing only in PEX pipe due to the higher temp rating. But the question I have with that is where does the air filter go? Can I buy a snorkel head that has a filter in it or would I have to find a way to pipe one in under the hood?

Most I've seen use the factory filter. Seal off the factory opening and run the new pipe into it and seal around the new cut.
