No muffler but quiet Super 10 Super 44
So I wanted to see what I was gonna deal with by having no muffler on my 95 CPI Blazer so I cut it off and started it up but it was oddly quiet. I look up to the front of the exhaust to see what was up there and I find a long "cherry bomb" looking "resonator?" maybe and no cat conv. Does anyone know what that is and is that why it is so quiet?
What I wanna do is put headers on in the near future but before that I wanna redo the exhaust from the manifolds back. I have read up a lot on people having true duals 3" 2.5" 2.25" but what I want is just simple, 2.5" from the manifolds back to either a Flowmaster Super 10 or Super 44 then dual out the sides behind the tires, I would go in front but the drivers side there is no room, with some black tips. What size should I go after the muffler 2.25" or 2.5" I read the 2.25" will keep the backpressure for the torque for 4wd but 2.5" keeps the low grumble of the exhaust.
So what is the big difference in the super 10 and super 44? 2.25" or 2.5" after the muffler?
Thanks

10's alot louder then 44. 44 has a nice low end grumble, but doesnt scream when you get into it. 10's almost sound like a glasspack. At least on my old dodge it did.
go 2.25.
Biggest restriction in our trucks is the y pipe. Get a nice custom y pipe done (keep it as smooth as possible) and you'll gain more then with a muffler.

We would have to see a picture of what your talking about. But if you see something and you know for sure its not a cat then im sure its a muffler of some sort. It would make no sense what so ever but ive seen stranger things lol

Here is some photos of what I am talking about. It is right after the y plus I dont know if I am supposed to have an O2 sensor before but I do have one after.

thats a glasspack. Cats suppose to be there. Someone cut it off and put that in its place. If you want "loud cut it off, replace with pipe, and add the flowmaster 10. Its not going to be nascar, but your family will hear you a mile down the road.

Thats what I thought it was. But still with no cat or muffler you would think it would be louder than it is. It is about as quiet as it was with the muffler still on. Is it becuase of the placement of the glasspack? Being up so far to the engine?
