Quick Question on intake...
If i leave my Vortec air filter box in my truck, and simply change the stock air filter to a k&n filter to get more flow, could it help on anything? especially gas mileage? i am just guessing, more air flow + a temperature controlled box= more air right??
I think it would... and just search through the older posts... someone stated that this effect of more power/mileage was at the risk of the filter being less of a filter... it still filters, but it has more airflow = less filter power....
More stuff possibly getting into the engine...

yeah... i worry about that. especially with the open vent in the vortec box (if you have ever opened one up).
but the problem is, i have had many answers, and all have been different. just like the responses to this thread, DIFFERENT!

The problem is that I, at least, have never seen verifiable, independent data to validate power claims from just a filter. Everybody's responses always come from the 'butt dyno' and not everbody's butt is the same.
Have a read through this article.

i know the k&n intake system not the filter has a posted dyno for the blazers, i believe its 7.42hp increase at 4671 rpms, ill go dig it up
