Default Vortec Cold Air Intake

I have a 2001 ZR-2 blazer is it better to replace the vortec cold air intake from the intake manifold to the filter or just from the mass flow sensor??

It's best to replace the whole intake. The rubber tubing that comes on it is pinched in areas and ribbed which hinders the airflow. I like the K&N cai becuase their intake tubes are not aluminum like most others they are made out of a specific plastic that doesnt absorb as much heat. The aluminum intakes will only absorb engine bay heat and raise your intake temps and defeat the whole purpose. K&N doesnt have a kit that fits the ZR2. However, I have an extra K&Nintake manifold tubing and used K&N cone filter or AEM synthetic dryflow filter that I could sell you. The intake tubing has the hole for the temp sensor already for it. You would have to fabricate something specific for the Mass Air down to the filter since you have a ZR2. You have tighter space because of the wheel well. PM if youre interested. Good luck.

Not true at all. Any of the 96+ 4.3L Intakes will fit on a ZR2, the K&N FIPK II, the AEM Brute Force, the Volant, etc..

IMO, the best kit out there is the AEM Brute Force designed kit. That's what i'm running in my blazer. Other than that, any full intake kit will be better than the one that goes only to the MAF.

Agreed with Jigg on that one. I am looking into eventually a AEM Bruteforce or a K&N FIPKII intake system.

Sometimes there's an AEM knockoff on ebay for like $70. What i'd do is buy that and ditch the filter for a 9" AEM dryflow filter. The K&N's only come with a 5 or 6" filter...
