Water stains in air intake

There's been a couple of times where I've opened up the air filter and have seen marks from dirty water getting through the intake.
I hit puddles out in the woods when I'm fishing. I was thinking of snorkeling the intake, but there really isn't anywhere to run the intake through the top of the engine compartment. Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have a cold air intake or stock?

Well, I know a lot of guys will put a sock or filter sleeve over their air filters when going off road. You could try that.

That's a good idea. I will do that.
I was wondering if there is a more permanent solution out there. The road I take to work is sometimes flooded out where it crosses a swamp. The water can get about 2 feet deep or more. Now my little blazer can take it like a champ, I'm just worried about water getting inside the manifold.
Any thoughts?

Is there a spot to cut a hole through the left fender and route a snorkel through there instead of through the hood?
