Default good wheel backspacing?

I am lifting my jimmy very soon and have been looking at new wheels. a guy at the local les shwab said the ones i want have to much of an off set and sould stick out of the fenders pretty far. i want them to stick out a little but not to much as i want to put like 30" or 31" tires on it without them rubbing. i plan on trimming my fenders a little but not over the top. so what would be a good off set?

If you just want to run 30's dont waste the time/money to lift.... 30's will fit at stock height with no rubbing.... as for backspacing, the stock rims have 6" of backspacing... I wouldn't go much shallower than 4".... even with a 2 inch lift, 4" backspaced rimsmight rub with 31's...

It says there is 4. it looks really good!! Ill try to put some pics up this weekend. I just finished my 2 in shackles, 1.5 in tb crank, 2 in BL and the rims and tires. looks sick!!! I love those rims. Try to find some on craigs list... I picked up the set for $100 with the tires. They are just cooper AT but they were soooo cheap. im just gonna run them down then buy a new set.
