shackle & torsion bar lift problem
I have a 4-door 4x4 Blazer with about 160,000 miles on the body. I installed a set of 2" lift shackles on the rear and cranked the torsion bars on the front. From all my reading I see the front should be about 1/2" lower then the rear. With the torsion bars cranked all the way up, measuring from the top of the wheel to top of the wheel well with 235/75/15 tires on stock wheels, my front is about 2" lower. My shop says I need lift torsion keys, but after my research I don't think their neccessary. What is the problem?
Howdy "hateitorlikeit" I don't know if you have the S10 or K version. I know that different year S10s offer different clearance challenges. Check the clearance of the upper control arms to the stop or parts of frame. When you simply crank up the torsion bars, the control arms may stop because of the rubber bumpers (bottom side of upper arms) & also possibly a metal stop (not sure of actual name - looks like a finger). If when the truck is normally weighted, the control arm is hitting/resting on the stop or frame, then you'll be feeling/hearing it when the truck is coming up from a dip or out of pothole, etc.- NOT GOOD.
I'm currently figuring out how to overcome this issue for my 97 S10 Blazer. One way (expensive & decent amount of time) is to change the upper arms to ones that give better clearance when you torque up the torsion bars. I'm searching for discussions about ball joint spacers (pros/cons/where to get).

When you say cranked the bars it doesn't really say how much you cranked them. Did you crank them half way, all the way or what??? You could have worn out tbars, this would cause the problem you are talking about.
yeah i have the bolts all the way cranked in and it's still sitting about 2" lower in the front compared to the rear.
