Default Stock or Lift?

I own a '96 Blazer 4dr w/4wd [which currently doesn't work :(], and the suspension is shot. I was looking into getting a Rough Country 2" suspension lift, but, after grazing through a few threads, it seems that that kit is not the best choice. I would really like to get my baby lifted, but don't want to do nothing extreme, considering I don't go off-road but maybe 4x a year.

So, I was hoping to get some advice from some more experienced people on here on what I should do. I don't want to do a body lift, least not yet, and I don't want to lift it more than 5". Though I don't want to go spending thousands of dollars on a lift if I don't need to. Would rather just replace with all OEM parts if I can't find a worthy suspension lift within my price range.

Thanks in advance!

T.B. crank and shackles = easy and cheap. Produces surprising results. Just don't overdo the t.b. crank. Hope this helps.

This might sound stupid, but I'm not all that intelligent when it comes to cars, but how would I go about getting those items, and what tools would I need? And thanks!!

There's a tutorial on the T-bar crank at the top of the "lifted" section. Only thing you need is a jack, two jack stands, and a 18mm deep well socket and ratchet. (if I remember right I think it's a 18mm.)

The shackles are for the rear leafsprings. You need varying things depending on how hard the bolts/bushings are to get out. But it's a pretty simple process. You can find shackles in alot of places. Alot of people like the company "3leaffab". They sell on Ebay and make a great looking and functional product.

The Shackles will run about $50, not including shipping and handleing. Plus you'll probley need new leaf spring bushings. And the torsion bar crank is... well free. Keep in mind, most places state how much lift the shackles will provide. But just incase it's not shown. For every inch of lenth of the shackle, you will get 1/2 inch of lift. IE 2 inch shckles lift a inch. 4 inch shackles lift 2 inches, etc.

Awesome! Thank you!

One more question, could I get the shackles installed, then adjust the t-bar to my liking? Or is it better to adjust the t-bar first?

you could get the shackles installed first the tbars you can adjust anytime. you said you need some new suspenstion. I have had good experience with the rough country shocks. with a tbar crank, shackles, and rough country shocks you pretty much have the rough country lift without spending the $400. Which is what I have

Cool. I glanced around, finding 3 leaf fab, but they are currently out of stock on shackles. I get paid tomorrow and was hoping to get some ordered then. If anyone has any other ideas on where I could get some, let me know.

Also, I would need just rear shackles, right? I haven't seen anything regarding front ones, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks again, for all the help, guys!!

Huh... damn always seen 3leaffab on ebay. Well any shackle that looks strong should be fine. Alot of guys actually just make thier own. But those other ones on ebay, the black ones with the piece in between the two sides looked alright.

And, yeah you'd only need the leaf spring shackles for the rear. The T-bar adjustment alone is what lifts the front end.
