Okay, I'm new here so sorry if this has been discussed before.

I want to do a a 5 inch suspension lift ,with a 2 inch body lift. (good idea/bad idea?)

what all else would i have to buy/get extra besides what comes with the kits

id be using this suspension lift
http://www.autoanything.com/suspensi....aspx?kc=ffsku

and this body lift
http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...uscon/132.html

and do you guys think those are good kits? and how hard do you think it would be?

Have you looked at a 6" suspension lift? A couple of members run them on here and don't have any problems... I don't think they had to cut any frame bracketry either. I don't see a mention of front diff relocating brackets either... Hopefully NJ4x4Blazer will chime in, I forget what make of lift he has, I think it may be BDS.

What size of tires do you want to run?

*EDIT* It's a Superlift... To me they're a little more reputable, myself personally, I'd pay the extra coin so I can drive with my mind at ease.

What model year do you have?

Yeah the superlift was good, but remember NJ4x4 had alot of problems on the install. And I think the BDS kit has something to do with the steering that makes it more popular. (I could be wrong, but thats what I remember reading.)

It will be alittle time consuming doing the install, take your time on it. Or save up some more coin and have someone else install it. Let it be thier problem and you just kick back and wait for a fine ride to be awaiting you! If you do it yourself, look through others install build threads and familar yourself with the instructions and the process of the lifts. Personally I'd like to do more than just look at pictures and dream about a lift big enough to fit 33's comfortably! You lucky devil...

this is what i read on the page for the lift;

Additional Info:
  • This towering 5" front lift comes from modified control arms, ball joints, and leaf springs. Plus, it comes with new steering center link and replacement tie rod extensions. Differential drop bracketry maintains your stock CV-joint angles, and the tie rod
  • Requires exhaust modification for vehicles with 4.3 liter engines.
  • Not recommended for Extended Cab models, ZR5, or Crew Cab.
  • Requires frame bracket cutting.
  • Front driveshaft vibration may occur at highway speeds.
a few things i find questionable.............

-why do you need to modify the exhaust? is there a cross brace or something that gets in the way? hopefully Dave will help clear up a few things on your wish list.
-whoa!!! why the hell would you want to install a system that "may" cause vibrations in your driveshaft!?!

OOOPS... guess I shouldn't BF and hmwk at the same time lmao.

I don't know, that "could cause driveshaft vibration" would reallly put me off...

i have a 96 4wd blazer, and i think i would stick with no bigger than 32s cause it would still be a daily driver and im not too much of a lucky devil, cause right now im just dreaming and making a list of things id need if i can ever get my blazer running right. so this is my distraction of a 'parking brake/abs light alterations while it jerks and hops at the same time while revs randomly" nothing ive done has worked...

and i think i would just like to stick with 5in lift no body lift. think that would give me enough clearance to do intermediate trail riding? (non rock outcrops or anything like that... just mud and dirt)

i got the 6in from superlift too. Yes the exhaust has to be modified. You have to have a custom y-pipe made to fit around the front drive shaft since it will be in the way cause the front diff is lower. I dotn have any problems with vibrations. With just the 5in i would go with 31s. I have the 6in with a 2in body lift and torsion bar crank with an add-a-leaf and my 33s rub with full compression on the trails

I've got a 92 on 31.6 inch tires (265-75-16's) with only a 3 inch body, cranked t bars and an add a leaf. They fit good, just need to trim up front some and a shackle in the back. Doesn't rub daily driving, but afraid to go off-road untill the above is done.

So a 2nd gen with roomier wheel wells, 32's, and 5 inch suspension should be good for just about anything. Except rock crawling and jumps, and MPG... ha ha. BTW Mine are on 16x8 camaro rims so they rub a little more than most with stock 15x7 rims.

NVANZEE; jinx! same time post. If he just want's a daily driver/ expedition type rig, I figure that would be an ok combo. But if your really pushin it, then trimming, or a really aggresive 31 would be better.

i think first gens actually have more room. I have my old 31s on my 93 and dont have any problems but they rubbed with a tbar crank and 2in body lift on my 99
