1986 S10 Blazer multi function lever
I replaced the lever today because the old one was cracked and wouldn’t activate the windshield wipers anymore . The new one was bought from ebay.
After I put everything together, as soon as I turned the ignition key, it blew the windshield wiper fuse. I replaced it and immediately blew the same fuse as soon as the key was turned to the on position.
I checked the wires to make sure none were pinched, changed the fuse again, same results.
The new multi function lever is not exactly the same as the original; it is a little bit longer and fatter around the base of the lever. But it does have the same functions: cruise and wipers.
Could the lever I bought be the wrong one?

Are you sure the one you bought is compatible with your vehicle? Is it possible a wire or a contact pad was shorted under the switch when it was installed?
If the new switch is not the same as the original, it's possible that the new one does not have the same contact pin locations and is shorting the wrong pins which could cause the fuse to blow. I'd suggest pulling the new switch out again and comparing it carefully to the original switch to make sure the contacts are all identical, and align the same way. You'll also have to do some diagnosis with a multimeter to figure out what is shorting and causing the fuse to pop.
