1989 Full size Blazer rear window not moving, but making a click
I have a 1989 full size Blazer that has a nonworking rear window. It was working fine up. Going down it would fall off track to the passenger side. So I opened up the tailgate and reset the glass on the track, closed the tailgate and put the window up by useing the switch. It went up and down a few times after that fine....then it happend. It won't go down now. Just clicks. Stuck in the up position. Not sure if I should mess with it since it's winter time now. Fuse? wire? Window motor? Any suggestions?
If it's like my 82 K5 you can get into the tailgate from inside, just take that access plate off.
Mine did that once but it was a bad wire. It went up and wouldn't come down by using the key switch in the tailgate (it worked fine from the dash switch). Pull that access plate and check the wires at the motors/switches with a voltmeter to see if you've got power.
If you've got power it may be the motor or one of the limit switches that stops the up/down movement when the window gets in place.
Be careful if your hand is in the way of the window though if you get to probing around for loose wires while you have the switch/key in position to drop the window. Getting "grabbed" by the window would have to be BAD.

your window motor might be about to take a crap to. it might have enough to drop the window, but not push it up. i ran 12 gauge wire back to mine from the switch, made a world of difference.there is a cable in there to that can get worn from time to time too.
