I have a 1995 Blazer S10 series, 4x4. I just replaced the engine, transmission and most of the accessories in it. It was running okay, but then the driving back to old town (about 32 miles) it died 3 miles from my destination. It would not start back up, the engine would just keep cranking. I found a had a few leaks, so fixed all that I found. Got it back, drove about 1/2 a mile and it died (stalled out) again and would not start just would crank. I checked fuses and originally the ECM fuse on the inside box was fried, that was replaced after the first time, but the second time fuse is good but no power again to ECM. I have been reading a few articles and a lot seems to be pointing to the ignition. I am not a pro mechanic, I went to school for Auto & Diesel mechanics, but am not real big on diagnostics. I have about $5500 into this thing already. Any thoughts on it? Does it sound like an ignition problem? If so which part of the ignition? I have not messed with the ignition at all, so I am not overly familiar with it. Any help I would greatly appreciate it!

 

had a 97 blazer at the shop the other day that had similar issues and it ended up being the ignition switch under the steering column. you can always check when it dies to see if it has spark and/or fuel and you can go from there

 

When i had stalling issues it was the fuel pump and the fuel lines were brittle as hell. I also had to replace my injectors too. are you getting a good spark?

 

I do not recall checking the spark and such but am pretty sure that was good last time I did. From what I have read, it seems that the ignition would be the most likely thing, but at the same time I just do not really understand how that the ignition would have caused the Blazer to stall out and die. It was running fine for the most part, I was doing 65 mph down the road, it made a few weird noises (which I do not recall now) and stalled and just would not fully turn over again. It will crank with no problem, but there is no power to the inside ECM fusebox and won't start. Not sure if the fuel pump would be in direct effect with that, do not see how it would. The spark maybe, but I am guessing that the ignition switch would be the most logical approach I am guessing?

 

first thing i would do is pull the plugs see if there are fuel soaked or full of cabon if they are it won't start no matter how hard you crank the engine if they are good then check for vacume leaks if you have 12volts at the coil then your ingnition is good also the mass air fuel sensor if bad will do that to

 

I went thru the exact same thing. My '93 has two ECM fuses. A 10 amp ECM and a 15 amp ECM-B...Does the '95 have the same setup? If so, which one blew? Does your Check Engine Light show up when you turn the key to "ON"?

 

my 95 blazer has 1 20amp ecm that goes to batt and 1 20 amp that goes to the ign

 

Where are those fuses at? The ecm and ingiton. Im assuming they are on the driverside end of the dash. I have a brand new battery in my 95 and nothing comes on. Its like it doesnt have a battery at all. Oh and just in case i did put the cables on the correct side

 

yea fuses are on driver side dash some systems have fuseable links

 

another thing check your ground see if it is tight
