Default 1997 CHEVY BLAZER Ignition switch problems

Hi My blazer is acting up with the ignition switch . My dash lights and hole truck is dead . Last week I was cleaning my truck and went to start she did the same thing to me . Im told that the switch is a problem on these trucks . Plus there is solinoid is the truck to release the key from the cylinder can get stuck over time too . Do I need a cylinder lock and switch also to replace . What ca I do to get the key out of the lock .

Please help me if you can . Im goig to goto the juck yard for the switch . It cost 100.00 for the replacement ignition switch for this truck and I am short on cash now . but if I need the cylinder lock I'll got the dealer toget it keyed from them .

You may have a small hole under the key on the column that you can stick a 3/16" bolt into to release the keys from the ignition.
Use the Search feature up top & you'll find a lot od threads on ignition issues.
The solinoid I think they're talking about is the park switch. If it isn't in park it won't shut off. Console shift - it's in the console, column shift I have no idea but I'd assume in the column. Start searching MF.

Solved . I had dirty battries terminals on the + and - terminals . I cleaned them up and she started right up . also they where lose too . Im going point out that changing the ignition switch is a bear on this truck . But it can be done .

Im have a problem with my gage for the fuel doing a full 360 turn on that gage .I think the cluster is bad . or maybe the fuel sending unit also .

Well now I have to put it back togeter now . I should of checked the terminals in the first place what a dummy I am . I know better too .
