Default 1998 blazer headlights

Ok Im sure Im not the only person that has or is trying this. Im wanting to completely take the lens off of the headlight altogether. How do I go about doing so? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Why do you want to take the lenses off of the stock headlights?

Remove the chrome ring, it just snaps on. Then remove the metal clips that help in holding the lens to the light, there's 4 around each light and they just pop off. Then you have to heat them up either with a heat gun or in the oven (I suggest the oven method) to soften the glue, and then you can begin to pry the lens off the headlight.

Google search "headlight in oven", should bring up a ton of hits of info on baking headlights in an oven to get them open.

Ok now do I need to take off the adjustment points for the lights before i take the ring off?? An which way does the ring come off... Do I pull it to the front of the lens or to the back of the assembly?

I stripped mine down completely before baking. The ring comes off from the front of the light (lens side).

Yea I still have my 98 4 door LS from high school. Its pushing 233,xxx miles with the original motor. I've beaten the hell out of it so its time to get it back to looking good again.

Ah okay cool.

Not sure how many different retrofits you may have already done in the past. Be ready to do some major cutting on these. The lights are very shallow and you have to really clearance for the projector to sit back far enough to fit behind the lens...

Have to clearance the brackets

I also had to clearance the radiator support for the back of the bulb because it set back so far...

End result was WELL worth all the work though.
