2000 sp10 blazer 4x4 wiring issues.
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum if I am breaking any rules of the forum I apologize. I did read the rules and am trying to post accordingly. This is going to be a long post. So, I have a 2000 s10 blazer 4 door 4x4. The fuel pump went out on it several months ago and I decided to replace it. At some point in this process is ran a jumper wire over from the battery and plugged it in to the test spot in the fuse panel to power the fuel pump directly and nothing happened so I continued the replacement. Later my brother tried this again but urged the wire into the wrong place there was a pop and a large arc. I believe this created my problems. So I continued my sint all of the new pump put the tank back up and it didn't work. Fealty pump I thought, so I send it back and got another one. Replaced it and it still did not work. Hmmm... I must have somehow wired it wrong. So I spent a some time playing with the wiring had a buddy come out to help test wires. Everything was wired correctly. So I thought maybe it was a bad ground because I realized my tra or light were not working either. So I regroup dedicated the trailor lights to the frame. Trailor lights worked but still no working fuel pump. I then remembered the big arc accident when my brother plugged the jumper wire into the wrong spot. So I thought maybe the ground for the pump was still blown but was in a different spot. I pulled the relay for the fuel pump and tested it the tested to see which spot going into the relay was positive and where the negative post was. I then ran a ground wire to the post the had to power going g to it and plugged the relay back in. Presto fuel pump works. So I start the blazer and take it for a drive. A couple miles down the road I hit a bumble and lose head lights. This had never happened before so I got, popped the hood, and wiggled the makeshift ground wire going to the fuel pump relay in the fuse panel and the headlights came on. This has happened a few times and I wiggle the wire it gets connection and headlights come on everytime. Now several months later I have some time while on spring break and I am trying to fix it right. I pulled the fuse panel under the hood then pulled all the pigtails that plug into the bottom of it. I took the pigtails apart and inspected each wire going to into the panel and none look to be blown. There is no sign of corrosion or any of the wires being burnt in any way, that I can tell from visual inspection. I had thought that when my brother ran the jumper wire across it fried a wire going into the panel this is not the case. Now I am thinking that he ran the jumper from the battery to the ground for the fuel pump and find the ground. Maybe this is the same ground for the headlights. If anyone knows where this ground is at or if this even seems reasonable I would appreciate any input on this. Also in resent weeks the transmission has stopped shifting. It seems like it only has 3rd gear and reverse. However it does not do this all the time it is intermittent which makes me think this is a wiring Issey as well. Although I don't know or think that ithe is related to the original issue because it drove fine for months after I got the fuel pump working again. OK, there it is. If anyone can help me out with this I would appreciate it. Thanks.
