2005 jimmy ZR2 cranks no start. Need to replace ignition switch. Tried google but no help on the subject of programming. Does the ignition switch (not the lock cyclinder) require any programming by the dealer?
I asked he dealer about lock cyclinder replacement and they said it has to be installed and programmed by the dealer. I guess even if you have a tech 2 scan tool you still have to have the dealer do it.
Thanks in advance

Thanks looks like no programming. I really hate having to go to the dealer. My truck started with engine start feature of the battery charger hooked up. Needed some more
voltage or something. Battery is AGM few months old under warranty took it in tested ok but they gave me new one anyway. Truck threw a code low voltage to RAP.Guess I can tackle the switch replacement if needed.

So replaced the switch. May have been part of the problem but still have crank but no start. Sit 10 min with the key on it will start.Guess I will ahve to go to dealer to get the lock cylinder replaced.
Question, Can the dealer use my keys on a new cylinder or will it have to have new keys coded?
Thanks.

the dealer can match the new one with your old so that the doors are the same
they will go off the tumblers in your old one
if the remote start was aftermarket the ignition may have been modified to "think " it had a key in to bypass the security feature

If anyone is following this, just thought i would say I am only getting no start after refueling. I do not know if this is just a coincidence or what. The fuel pump was changed about a year ago with ac delco pump with the new wire harness at the pump.
Changing the ignition switch seemed to have stopped all the codes I was geting before. Not getting any codes now and the security light is not on steady. The security light flashes when the door is open and goes of when the door is closed which seems to be normal.
I am thinking maybe trying one of the bypass kits that are around.

Turns out needed fuel pump. $1300,00 installed at the dealer. I also replaced the ignition lock module, cylinder, and BCM.$400.00 roughly at dealer plus the cost of parts.
That is second AC delco pump in two years.
