Default Update available

I brought our Blazer in to the dealer about a month ago because I was advised when I called the dealer that a software update was available to keep the Blazer from setting the parking brake on a frequent basis as I was experiencing. I have not experienced the problem with the e-brake setting ever since the update.

Sounds great! Did you have to take it into the dealership to get the update installed or is the update OTA?

I took it to the dealership and they updated the software while I waited. The software update number the dealership provided me with to correct the e-brake setting problem is - 21NA252

Unfortunately, I had limited options when i leased this Blazer as the production of vehicles was horrific.
The dealership updated the software to "resolve" the random engaging e-brake and guess what? the day after it started again.
This vehicle is awful.............and every single time i get in this piece of garbage the brake is engaged...........it is annoying and quite
frankly for the money spent for a payment it is not worth it.
I cannot wait to get rid of this poor excuse of an SUV ASAP.........

Default E-Brake randomly engaging

The manual states the vehicle is supposed to do some random checks of setting the parking brake but this appears to be happening way too often. I've had it happen on 3 out 4 starts in a 3 hour period, sometimes 4 times in a day, sometimes 5 days with nothing and then several times again. It is rare, but I have occasionally heard the brake operate and set when I walk up to the vehicle with the remote in my pocket and
several times have heard it set when I press the button on the door handle to unlock the car. However, those instances are very infrequent. Dealer is unable to find or duplicate a failure and just refers me to statement in manual. I just think it happens way to frequently to be a "random operation check". Any one else having this problem or know a solution ????

I recently took my blazer into the dealership to be serviced and told them about this. (Same exact issue to the T with what you stated)
They ended up doing a “software update brake control mod”. Warranty covered it but it apparently would’ve been $200 bucks. I’ve had the vehicle for a week and a half after all of the repairs and the parking has not engaged at all.

Possible side note but I also had a “service park assist” issue with one of the sensors on the bumper, I feel like that wouldn’t cause the parking brake to possibly engage but just wanted to give all the info with my experience with this whole situation.

Hope something helps you out with all this!

Default Software update appears to have worked

Should have posted this a year ago. I saw the post from 2021Blazerjunk in June of 2023. I called the Dealer and asked him if
Software Patch 21NA252 might solve my problem. He said "Looks like it, bring it in" I was giving it some time to make sure
but I can safely say I have gone 17 months and all 4 seasons without a problem of the parking brake being set. I even hear it
going through the "random checks" once in a great while as described in the manual. I'm glad it is working now as intended but
disappointed I had to notify the Dealer about software patch. At lease it was done for free. Thanks waynemt for waking me up to
get this post out. Hope it helps someone.
