85 k5 high beam problem
I have low beams and no high beams.
so far i have replaced
the headlight switch
dimmer switch
and checked the fuse(horn/dim fuse) and it was okay but replaced it anyway
i just put a used column in the truck but it had no high beams previously the new bought switch and the new and old switch both dont give me high beams i put the switch that just came with the new/used column in there and the reverse happens i get both high and low beams and the highs wont turn off.
there is three wires going to the dimmer switch-tan,green,yellow if i jump from the yellow to green or from the yellow to tan i get all the lights pull the jumper out and off they go.
the switches i bought is made by standard ignition i already took one back thinking it was defective.
also none of these dimmer switches click when the rod through the steering column plunges it. not sure if its suppose to.
so please any ideas for this newb would help. going to go camping next month and would like high beams while out in the desert.
