Default 93 blazer distributer/wires/rotor ?'s

I have a 93 s-10 blazer 4.3L Vortec engine. I need to change the distributer/rotor/wires/sparkplugs. Normally, I would find a video on youtube and copy it with my chiltion for backup just in case. But there is no video to be found. Ive never replaced these things before. I am pretty good at working on blazers because thats all Ive ever owned, but like I said Ive never had to replace these particular parts myself. I want to be sure that there is nothing I am missing befoore I start the job because I wont have a way to the parts store while I am working on the truck, and I wanted to make sure I have the right parts. And I know that some distributers (maybe all? I dunno) have to have the "timing" right. Hopefully that is the right word. So I want to know if there is anything to be careful of while I am doing this particualr project. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!!

I am assuming you are just doing the distributor cap. If so, you wont have to deal with timing. Its pretty straight forward, there is a small bolt on the distributor cap, once you take that off, it comes off giving you access to the rotor, and that just pulls off.
Getting the plugs out is pretty easy too, minus the 2nd one on the drivers side, now that one is a complete pain in the butt. Some people have to disconnect the steering shaft to get to it.
I was able to get to it with swivel socket and an extension.
I found it easier to get the spark plug socket on the spark plug first, then start hooking up the swivel socket, and extension, and then the socket wrench.
installation is reverse of removal.
Get AC delco parts for the cap/rotor/wires, these trucks are extremely picky with that. they love NGK or ac delco plugs as well.
I have NGK in my 93.

I cant stress the AC delco and NGK enough.
Good luck!

I have the distributer (gray thing which the wires plug onto, a rotor, and the wires and spark plugs. Still nothing to do with timing? And I wanna be clear that my truck is 1st generation. It doesnt have that flat looking distributer cap...its a round/cylindar shape type. with the plugs on the top. Ive tried looking it up on youtube (like I mentioned in the previous post) and all I can find is one with that flat type of distributer... I hope this is making sense. I just wanna be sure. And a swivel socket? Is that the one that bends at the end? Or something else? If thats the name of the tool I can just ask about it at the Schucks. And I got whatever type of parts come recommended at the Schucks too. I was the more expensive ones....So I assumed that they were the better ones. I dont believe it was AC delco...Ill run down and check really quick and see what brand. Brb.

BWD Select is the name on the boxes. Im glad I questioned it if they are not the best type for my truck, because Schucks is famous for giving me the wrong type/size of parts. :/ And if I do hafta do somethin with the driveshaft is it complicated? Ive never messed with it either. I suppose Ill do some research on that as well just in case. I really cant afford to mess up. Im pretty confident with car repair generally, but I never get too cocky cuz thats when I mess something up and it ends up costing me a ton more than if I wouldve just asked about it.

Not the same thing, the steering shaft is what connects your steering wheel to the steering box, which is down by the motor. I personally wouldn't touch the steering shaft if you can get around it. The swivel socket is the socket which bends at the end and is used to get a better angle with your extension.

With the rotor, I believe there is only two ways it can go in, so make a note of how it looks when you pull it out and put it back in the same way. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

And I'd be willing to bet that the BWD select will cause issues. If you can, return them and get AC Delco, Delphi, or NGK. Going with aftermarket ignition system parts in these trucks is generally worse than leaving in the old stuff.

actually the bwd rotor is great. And for once i gotta say its better fit then the ac delco. the 2 delco rotors ive used, was almost impossible to seat. the bwd snapped right in. I do wanna say for the distributor cap (the thing the wires plug into) make sure its brass and not aluminum. just make sure the tips etc are gold, not silver. they last longer. Here i will get you some part #s to order.

Cap will be
AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 5D1054A

rotor
AIRTEX / WELLS Part # 1A6

plugs
ACDELCO Part # CR43TS or
NGK Part # 2771

wires
ACDELCO Part # 9716W

fuel filter
brand doesnt matter. never had issues with the cheap ones,or the good ones.

air filter, doesnt matter on brand either.

I as well have a 93,vortec. this is exactly what i ordered. with ngk plugs. blazer runs tops.

ive always done one thing at a time so you dont cross wires or anything, like change a spark plug then loosly put the old wire back on after you did all 6 go around and change all the wires one at a time and loosely put them on the old cap then take the cap off with the wires still attached and put the new cap on then move the wires over one by one

ok, got it done Wires were kind of a pain to keep track of but I used different color nail polish on em to mark which one was which...lol...it worked. and I kept the bwd rotor. and then I got an ac delco distributer cap and wires instead of bwd, and the distributer did have brass (I assume) because they looked brass colored, not silver. I cleaned out the spots where the spark plugs go into cuz I was worried about stuff being in there. My engine block is absolutely filthy but Im too afraid to get it pressure washed cuz Im afraid it might fall apart...lol....I think the grease and stuff is all that holds it together sometimes.. I also got a new gapper tool, which I was pretty excited about. It looks like a pocket knife kinda. I love new tools. I used .45. Hopefully thats right. Thats what my stuff said the specification was. And turns out I actually had a swivel socket wrench AND extension thingie already. I have a big socket set and its got all kinds of stuff that I havent really used before. I had also bought a spark plug socket (5/8) and turns out I didnt even need to cuz there was one in my set the whole time.

I asked for them to do those parts with the numbers and the guy at the schucks looked at me like I was insane....
