Question 96 Code 43

Great site!

I've gone through here searching for like problems with the Code 43 -ESC issue. Gotta few questions:

I need a few things defined.
What is SES light?
What is ICM?
What is ECU?
How are the Codes "reset"?

I have a 96 Blazer and got the Code 43 warning. From what I am picking up here on this site, I am going to run the same equesnce of tests to solve this problem. I am not sure what the above mean...

Thanks

What is SES light? service engine soon

What is ICM? ignition control module

What is ECU? engine control unit

How are the Codes "reset"? I reset mine with a scanner but, disconnecting the battery works also. Before I bought the scanner I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and then after reconnecting let it idle for 15 minutes. I'm unsure if that is long enough for the ecm(engine control module) to relearn the idle on these but, I never had a problem with it in the past.

I bought the scanner because I was having some major issues going on and wanted live data while I was driving.

43 is not a valid OBD2 code which would result from a check engine diagnosis. A valid code would start with a letter and be followed by 4 numbers as described at the beginning of the OBD2 code index thread linked to in my signature below.

Question Code 43

I do not have a code reader. I used the paper-clip method in the A&B terminals. The result was 43 which is designated ESC: electronic spark control= ESC module not receiving knock sensor signal (per GM TBI Trouble Codes).

Fuel delivery system?
A code 43 can be caused by a faulty connection at the knock sensor?
short to ground?
check my cap and wires?

Where am I wrong here?
Have I been led astray?

Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit i would just check the wiring to the pcm first and if that turns out allright, put a knock sensor in it. (is it a 94 blazer?)

Ok... Original description was 96. If it is a 94, then the info provided is correct for the code.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks for the info folks. I will run the suggested routines...as soon as I dig it out of the recent snow storm.

Yes it is a 94.....
