Default 97 Blazer dash lights out

I have a 97 Blazer LS, when i turn the key, the radio comes on, the gauges jump, but the Battery light, Seat Belt light, etc... Will not cut on along with the running lights, the Engine cranks but will not fire, sometimes there is the sound of the starter grinding, sometimes there is a metallic grinding, and when i turn the key off there is a buzzing sound coming from the engine side of the fire wall, this is my first vehicle ive worked on myself so please be as specific a possible in lamens terms, Thank you in advance for your advice.

I want to say its your ignition switch. If you take the bottom off the steering wheel column itll be a box right underneath the ignition. Try to tap it with the back of a screw driver if that works then youre good but eventually you will have to replace the ignition switch.

It sounds like it might be the battery. Check the battery. How old is the battery? Try charging the battery. If it isn't fully charged or won't hold a charge, the engine won't start. Make sure the cables are secured to the battery terminals also.
