Hello all I'm new to the forum. I am no mechanic and need some help advice. I have searched but found nothing similar to my problems or no solution was ever posted. Anyway I have a 97 blazer (my love) My fuel gauge shoots up to full then will sit at E when I turn her over. Also my temp gauge will not go past 160 scanner shows 190-200 and my oil pressure just bounces everywhere. Could this be a possible ignition switch problem or just bad cluster? Any ideas would be great and admin if I'm not posting right please correct me and point me in the right direction thank you. Shane

It could be an ignition switch problem. I had a similar problem with my '04 not long ago, and that's what the dealer found.
Observe what the indicator lights on your cluster do on start-up. When you turn the key to "run", all the indicator lights should come on, and then go "off" when you turn the key to "start". If the lights don't come on at all, chances are you have a bad ignition switch.
Check for a blown fuse, too. My problem re-occurred after one week, and the dealership discovered a blown fuse for the cruise control. They "fixed" the problem by disconnecting the cruise control; apparently there's a short in the harness to that component. So I have a functional cluster, but no cruise. Oh, well.
