It’s a 1998 blazer ls that has the one piece hatch (doesn’t open from the middle).

I assume the button that has the keyhole on the outside is supposed to pop the rear glass when pressed?

Its not doing that. The only way to pop the rear glass is from the dash or the key fob.

The button will unlock the doors when the key is turned but nothing else.

I was just wondering if this was normal or if something is broke. And if it is, any suggestions on how to fix it?

 

I have the same lift gate, but it's a 99. I do not have the key hole tho, I'm wondering if it was an option, or if it was swapped in hoping to work, does your key work on it?

 

Yeah the key works just fine. It unlocks the hatch with one turn to the left and all the doors with a second turn to the left. Just nothing else.

 

Can try this method. I created this how-to a long while back for my 04 with the tailgate style lid, the process of getting to it is going to be different, but I would imagine that the button should be the same regardless.

Release button for 2005 Blazer wasn’t working. No sound or anything. Replaced fuse in panel under the hood. Sound came on but still wasn’t releasing. The cheap plastic piece on the actuator had snapped. You have to take off the drop gate plastic panel, then the metal panel cover to get at it. Fixed it with 3 zip ties...

posting this cuz I couldn’t find any information about this... hopefully it helps someone in the future...

I cant get mine open ar all how do u get it open the unlock switch wont open it n the handle in the inside won't either or the key button? Mines a 96

 

Mines a 96 too there's a hole in the back u can put a flat head in it an u can unlock it

 

Set the parking brake. It won’t open without parking brake set.,

 

Not the case with my 04, never heard of that one
