Question ? about electrical box on rear of the vehicle.

Does anyone know what this part is and what function it has?Its on the rear of the vehicle and mounted with 2 bolts on part of the cross frame. Its rectangler shaped maybe 21/2 buy 3 1/2 inches. It has some electrical connections on the top part of it.It also has a reson type material that covers it.I noticed today that mine has a large crack on it.
Thanks for your help.

if there is 2 more up front just like it, and the yellow plugs, I would put my bet on something to do with airbags.

Air bag wires are pretty small, so keep that in mind.
