What did you choose for side post terminals?

Use a old extension cord or some rope, lay it out under hood and draw lines with a sharpie and cut your wire to length. I bought extended terminals for my 04 CC when I had it, my blazer has a dual post battery and I went cheap and just bought new terminals for the top. I don't remember what sizes I used for eyelets as I drilled mine to fit after I torch soldered them to the wire.

I just got a couple of these in a 2/0(i put two 1/0 wires in it) wire size, with a 3/8 hole. I don't use the red/black terminal covers anyway.

isnt 1/0 bigger that 2/0? Typo maybe? Anyway thats what I used and I used a large flat head screw driver and a hammer to crimp it on the wire

no, 4 ga < 2 ga < 1/0 < 2/0 < 3/0 etc.

Diata, are you planning on protecting the welding wire some way? I've read about welding wire not holding up too well in an engine bay.

When I use those terminals I will normally drill a small hole in the top and solder the wire in, a small butane torch will normally get it hot enough than feed the solder in through the hole, a trick my dad taught me from when he was in the navy. I don't trust crimping for some reason, I prefer to solder if at all possible.

I hadn't planned on protecting it, I've run it on other trucks for years with no issues. I have silicone/fiberglass insulating sock I put over it if its near a hot spot. I know some cheap cables are only covered in vinyl, which wouldn't last at all.

Good call on drilling the hole Swells. I am just going to crimp them and shrink wrap them since we have all the equipment at work.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

great idea planning on doing the BIG 3 this weekend

Blade_24k Dec 27, 2013 03:29 AM

I hate to thread jack, but I have a question. When doing the big 3,is it replacing the stock wiring completely, or are we just leaving the stock wireinf there and adding the 1/0 awg to it?
