Default Brake lights don't work

I searched and couldn't find anything here (maybe its here but couldn't find it)

so i have a 96 4 door Blazer with a 4.3 vortec (if that matters)

and only the third brake light works.
i checked the bulbs and they are all fine, so i know it's something else.
the left/right blinkers work the hazards wok. so.. what gives?

do you think it's the brake switch on the pedal? if so ... where is it??

Thanks in advance.

if the third light works, then it is not your brake light switch. Have you checked the connection in the rear wire harness to make sure they are not corroded or broken? The brake light switch is actually at the top of the pedal, it should be a 2 inch by 3 inch white plastic box which mounts thru a spring clip where the rod for the power booster and brake pedal linkage connect. I would be leaning towards something in the rear wire harness tho, especially if the third center brake light is working and not the actual rear markers.

The problem is not in the wiring, it's the hazard button on the steering column. The button will pull straight out. Clean it or get a new one from the dealer. To test it, wiggle it around while standing on the brakes, lights might come on if you hit the right spot.
