This is in an 02 blazer and the DRL and normal headlight is the same, only way to tell is that the dashlights turn on. I took the assemblies out today and the wire that runs to the "angel eyes" is cut, is that the way they have to be wired or can the ring be the DRL.

If you are saying that a previous owner installed aftermarket halo headlights, who knows what they may have messed up.

 

On the factory headlights are the drl not as bright as the normal headlights or are they the same brightness.

 

After '98 the inner pair are the high beams and DRLs while the outer pair are the standard headlights. When the inner ones are functioning as DRLs they are ~1/2 their normal intensity.
