Default Cannot control Headlights

I have a 99 4dr ls and the headlights work fine but I cannot control them. The switch to the left of the steering wheel just doesn't work. What can I do to fix it?

They are automatic, sensored. I would like to get around to switching mine to have an off switch.
If you really want them off while your trucks completely off, barely press in your e-brake, start it up, and you can then use the switch.

You should be able to turn the headlights on at any time by rotating the headlight switch to the ON position. This will bypass the DRL & AHL.

What are the conditions when you observe this problem? Day? Night? And what have you tried?

The DRL's will come on when you put it in drive provided there is adequate ambient light so as not to activate the AHL's. DRL's on your truck will be the high beam bulbs powered in series causing approximately half the light output. When the AHL's activate, the park lights and low beams (provided the headlamp dimmer switch is in the low beam position) will come on.

Day or night my lights are always on and turning the switch to the side does absolutely nothing. If I just turn the key and not start it the headlight will come on even in the day in the off position.

below your headlight **** there should be a dome light over ride button for the interior lights. if you press this button 5 times in a row you will hear a ding and your headlights will have switched from automatic to manual. and do the exact same to switch it back to automatic.
