Default Custom gauges using original harness from 2002 Blazer

Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

I'm building a custom panel truck, using a 2002 Blazer as the donor vehicle.

So far, drive train is in place, the Current Performance custom wiring harness is feeding the 2002 engine bay relay box and the C 1,2,3 blocks. Motor runs ( 2000 5.3L ), and the 2002 Blazer harness feeds the 2002 Blazer instrument cluster fine.

Problem is, the above cluster will not fit the dash, and, is too large to mount elsewhere, can anyone recommend how I can retain the Blazer harness ( am using the Blazer steering column, and attached controls ) and use aftermarket speedomoter, tach, fuel, oil pressure, voltmeter gauges mounted where they will fit?

Thank you!

I used the org. 92 GMC jimmy s15 dash harness and steering column, then built a insert for gauges out of brushed aluminum, [4x4 RX7 in my avatar]

Hello-
Thank you for responding, I like the old school look. What gauges are those and what did it take to connect them up to the original harness?

again, thanks!

Gauges are Stewart Warner Wings series - I ordered them Thu Summit Racing

I gutted the whole org. Mazda wiring harness except for light sockets and heater controls and used the GMC harness Thu out the RX7.

All the gauges are elect. so hooking them up was just following the wire color codes, S&W sending units for the gauges on the engine and the other end attaches to the gauge along with a hot and a ground per instructions.

The S&W fuel gauge and speedometer come in different ohms to match up Org. sending units per different brands of vehicles, Ford, Chevy ECT. so look up the OHM rating you need before ordering them then they read accurate. The speedometer also programs for tire size ECT.

The only gauge I couldn't mount in the dash pannel was a Sun super tach so that was mounted up on the dash

Again, thank you for replying to this thread, what you did is what I am looking to do, the manufacturer and installation info you gave is very helpful!

Possible with a 92, but difficult with an 02 because most of the gauges are fed serial data from the PCM. Unlike the 92 that had a wire for each gauge and a sender. On the 02 the senders report to the PCM. Except oil press.
As I understand it the data is provided to the instrument cluster and it's micro processor (board) outputs to the individual gauges.
Give Jared at CPW a call and explain what you want to accomplish. He may be able to help or point you in the right direction.

Thank you, I did not know about the micro processor, I wondered how the mileage was stored, now I know.
