Default Dash lights not on all the time

I just bought an 02 4dr blazer that I'm having some weird lighting issues with it.

The headlights are on all of the time. I figured this was a DRL issue but then I noticed that none of my guage lights work and my over head console didn't light up. I have no fuses blown at all so I don't think that's the issue.

I think noticed if I turn the dimmer for the guages and the dome light up so the dome light is on all my dash light come on. I have found a sweet spot where my dash lights are on but the dome light isn't so it's working for now. I just want to know what's going on with it.

Also, not sure if it's related or not. I was told my 3rd brake light isn't working as well.

Pretty sure you have confirmed that the variable resistor that is the dimmer switch has burned out. You could try pulling it apart and cleaning it, but if you find that it is charred, just get a replacement headlight switch.

And no, the 3rd brake light would not be related.
