Default Driver Door Locks and Dome Lights???

I'm having a issue with the lock on the driver door of my 1998. When I hit the lock button I can hear the actuator try to lock but the indicator does not move, and immediately the actuator sounds like it re-unlocks. Also I cannot turn the key in the lock to manually lock the door and if I press on the indicator from inside the vehicle it is very difficult to push down and often pushes itself back up enough to not lock. Not sure if it is related or not but the dome lights will also not turn off without using the override button. I checked all the door switches and they seem to be in working order. Any ideas?
Thanks

I would first check for binding since you can't turn the key. My 98 locks worked very stiffly before I got into the door panel and graphite lubed up all the mechanism pivot points.

This clip holds the rods that performs the lock function, they break.
My passenger side heated mirror got broken, when I fixed it, the dome lights started working again. Electrical gremlins!
