Electrical issue with Dome, Map, Vanity Lights
Just purchased a 2001 Chevy Blazer 4x4 LT. The interior lights. Dome, map, and vanity lights will not go on. Replaced fuse, no help. Played with Dome Override and it occasional makes a chime noise but no luck getting interior lights working? Temp/Compass works fine as well as the rest of the electrical, (with the exception of the Air Bag light which is on (and occasionally goes off after a hard bump). Previous owner said it was caused by a loose spring???)
I've seen some similar responses here about the lights (even replied to one but no response) also not sure what is what when it comes to parts in the vehicle, so pictures or details would certainly help this noob.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.!!
Thanks!

I suppose anything is possible. I guess I never considered it since it involved so many bulbs (10). I'll get a tester and check. Anyone know how to access the map bulbs? Do they unscrew or??
Thanks!

Hi, I've also just bought a blazer with similar dash light problems. So I looked on this site for a fix but what I found were loads of people with the same problem. Having fixed mine I thought I'd share. For anyone interested my blazer had fairly recently (and at least two owners) had an aftermarket stereo fitted.
This was the cause of the dash lights not working.
I'll now list the information I was looking for.
The wire colours behind the stereo (from the vehicle) are as follows:
pink - power aerial
black - earth
orange - permanent live
green - switched live from ignition
purple/white trace - switched live from light switch
grey - connect this wire to the purple/white trace to make the lights work again.
That's this years good deed done and it's only April!
