Default fuel guage drops to 0

2000 blazer, with engine running the fuel guage will drop to 0 and the low fuel light will come on. The tank is actually one half full. The guage will return to the right amount then drop back to 0.
Any help would be appreacated.
Thanks
John

THANK YOU for putting the actual issue in the thread subject!!! Too bad many others arent that smart.

Any other issues, electrical or not? Any history to disclose on the fuel pump assembly?

What about with just 'key on', engine not running? Does it tend to do it during first two seconds of key on without cranking engine?
What happens when you slap bottom of tank with a small board while at E?
