Well someone tried doing this swap and it was not possible because one of the clusters
speedos was cable driven

You can always do a digital swap or just add a tach gauge

Mine was stock. You can find these clusters at any pick and pull or junkyard.

If you decide to go this way Ill find the DIY artical for you .

1987 is cable speedo. A tach cluster can be added but will need to be repinned and the tach wire added (all in the dash, pretty easy to do.)

1989 was the first year for an electronic speedo and the digital dash.

I have a tach cluster that's modified with an electric speedo I will sell if someone wants it...I am going to install a Sunbird cluster as soon as I get the housing.

Well for right now I just put in a regular small tach from advance. Just a little 2 3/8'' in gauge. If I can find one of those digital dashes for a good price, ill do that. Otherwise ill buy a side column so it looks cleaner. But this is what it looks like for the moment. It actually wasnt that hard to install. Power, ground, distributor, and illumination. I might actually take the bulb out and put in a colored LED if I decide to keep it due to not finding a digital dash. Im guessing that digital dash is compatible with various engines right? Cause mine has the stock 2.8L V6 right now. Ill eventually putting a 350 in it.
